Cherry Mobile Unboxing and Review

This review is not done by a techie but by a regular person who wants great quality for an affordable price.

It’s been more than a month since I’ve bought the Cherry Mobile Flare, so I feel like I can give a fairly accurate review of this phone. I’m just going to give a brief look into what I thought of it.

Upon unboxing, one will find, the unit (of course),  a USB cord which you can plug to the charger (white), 3.5mm earphones (black) and a user manual. I found the Cherry Mobile Flare to be nice and simple—it’s a rectangular black unit with a black matte cover in the back. The phone also has 4 capacitive buttons on the lower part of the unit. Screen and Look: The 4” screen is large enough to see the crisp graphics. Although you certainly won’t confuse this one with a Samsung Galaxy Note in terms of graphics quality, you can still enjoy either reading or playing with it since the picture quality is really clear. The black parts of the graphics will appear to be gray, though; also, don’t expect to see very much under sun glare.

Camera: the camera is a 5MP on the back (autofocus) and another front-facing camera. The pics are relatively clear and easy to manage. See pics below for sample shots. The video of this camera is VGA so I try not to use it if I can avoid it.

Battery Life: The battery life may be an issue for some since typically it can only last a day before you need to charge again because of the 1500mAH Li-ion battery. The battery life shortens dramatically if you surf the internet with it. But in my case, I use it for music, games and reading and it can last me around 2 days (with the task manager having no additional unnecessary apps on) which makes the Flare battery life not really an issue for me.

Performance: The Flare is quite quick in touch response but can get laggy if there are a lot of apps on. The Flare performs well on apps but it sometimes lags in games like Temple Run and Temple Run 2 (which is pretty inconvenient); internet surfing is quite smooth but will eat a large chunk of your battery life.

Verdict: this is a bit redundant but this phone is certainly worth the 3,999 Php in terms of performance and look. It’s been smooth sailing for the Cherry Mobile Flare and I hope that this phone will be able to make a mark as a durable phone as well (but only time will tell). This phone has been tested against pricier counterparts and has proven to be well-equipped to deal with your needs. This only means that a good and decent smartphone does not need to cost much.
